Media Release Appointment of Assistant Governor (Financial Markets)

The Reserve Bank today announced the appointment of Mr Ric Battellino to the position of Assistant Governor (Financial Markets). The position became vacant on the appointment of Mr Geoffrey Board as Assistant Governor (Business Services). There were fourteen applications for the position (both internal and external), of whom four were interviewed.

Mr Battellino, who holds an honours degree in economics from the University of Queensland, and is a Sloan Graduate from the London Business School, has had a distinguished career at the Reserve Bank. After having held senior positions in the Economics Department, he has spent nearly all of the past decade in positions involving close contact with the money, bond and foreign exchange markets. Since 1988 he has been, in turn, Head of Domestic Markets and International Departments.
