Personal Information Collection Notices Publication Purchases
The Reserve Bank of Australia (Reserve Bank) collects personal information of individuals who purchase hard copies and/or subscriptions of Reserve Bank publications via the Reserve Bank's online Order Form including details of a purchaser's identity, address, contact details and, where a purchaser elects to make payment by credit card, the type of credit card, the name on the card, the card number and expiry date (the Information). The Reserve Bank uses the Information to manage payment for, and distribution of, hard copies of Reserve Bank publications.
If the Information were not collected then the Reserve Bank would not be able to manage payment for, and distribution of, hard copies of Reserve Bank publications.
Some of the Information is of a kind which the Reserve Bank will usually disclose to the Reserve Bank's credit card acquirer and the financial institution that issued the relevant credit card used by the purchaser for the purpose of effecting payment for the publication(s). The Credit Card Details may also be shared with other participants in the relevant credit card system. The Reserve Bank is unlikely to disclose the Information to overseas recipients.
Individuals are entitled under Australian privacy law in certain circumstances to access, and seek correction of, personal information about them held by the Reserve Bank.
