RBA Economics Competition 2011
The Reserve Bank of Australia sponsors an essay competition for undergraduates studying economics at any accredited university in Australia. The competition is run by the Bank in conjunction with the UNSW Economics Society.
The 2011 Essay
In their essays, students addressed the economic consequences of natural disasters.
Winning Essays 2011
- First prize ($1,500): Shuangyu Christine Ma, the Australian National University 450KB
- Second prize ($750): Stephanie Parsons, Griffith University 531KB
- Best essay from a first year student ($500): Hans Zhu, the University of Melbourne 247KB
These students were presented with their prizes by Dr Jonathan Kearns, Head of Economic Research Department, at a ceremony at the Reserve Bank of Australia in Sydney on 2 November 2011.
