Media Release Senior Appointment

The Reserve Bank of Australia has appointed Michele Bullock as Assistant Governor (Currency). This is one of six Assistant Governor positions in the Bank. The position is responsible for the banknote issue function, including the distribution, quality and security of Australian banknotes, and the conduct of related research and analysis. The position became vacant following the appointment of Bob Rankin as Chief Representative in Europe. Ms Bullock will also take up the Chair of Note Printing Australia Ltd.

Ms Bullock holds a Masters of Science (Economics) degree from the London School of Economics, and a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) degree from the University of New England. She has over 25 years of central banking experience, and has held a number of senior management positions in the Reserve Bank in recent years. Most recently she occupied the position of Adviser, Currency Group and, before that, she was Head of Payments Policy Department.

Ms Bullock's appointment is effective today.
