Media Release Appointment: Assistant Governor (Business Services)

The Reserve Bank of Australia has appointed Ms Michele Bullock to the position of Assistant Governor (Business Services). Since December 2010, Ms Bullock has held the position of Assistant Governor (Currency). In her new position, she will assume the additional responsibility for the Bank's Banking and Payments Settlements departments upon the retirement of Mr Keith Hall, Assistant Governor (Banking & Payments) in early December 2015.

Ms Bullock holds a Masters of Science (Economics) degree from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) degree from the University of New England. She has over 30 years of central banking experience. Before being appointed as the Assistant Governor (Currency) she was the Adviser, Currency Group and, before that, Head of Payments Policy Department.

Mr Hall has been the Assistant Governor (Banking & Payments) since 2008. Before this he held a variety of senior positions across the Bank spanning a career of 40 years, including in roles focusing on banking supervision and financial stability. In recent years, Mr Hall has made a major contribution to the IMF's technical assistance programs in these fields.

The Governor, Glenn Stevens, takes this opportunity to thank Mr Hall for his outstanding service to the Reserve Bank across a wide range of roles and to wish him and his family well for the future.
