System Availability Statistics 2022
The RBA has committed to providing quarterly operational reliability figures for its retail payment settlement services. While RITS is predominantly a wholesale settlement system, it is included here as it also settles retail payments through the batch feeders and the Low Value Settlement Service (LVSS). The RBA also provides figures for its Low Value Clearing Service (LVCS), which facilitates file transfers between participants in low value clearing systems. For more details on availability calculations and targets, and system components, see About RITS, System Availability.

Notes: Availability is calculated as the amount of time that a system is not experiencing an outage, as a
proportion of the core operating hours for that system. Downtime for recent incidents may be subject to
revision. (a) As the core operating hours of systems vary throughout the year with
daylight savings, calendar year figures may differ from the average of
quarterly figures.

March Quarter
In the March quarter there were no incidents resulting in downtime to systems.
June Quarter
In the June quarter there were two incidents resulting in downtime to systems: an FSS incident in April led to around 50 minutes of downtime; and a June LVSS incident led to around an hour of downtime.
September Quarter
In the September quarter there was one FSS incident resulting in downtime of around three minutes.
December Quarter
In the December quarter there were three incidents resulting in downtime to systems. An internal incident in October resulted in significant downtime for LVSS, FSS and LVCS of around 3 hours, 4.5 hours and 5.5 hours respectively. See the Final Incident Report, RITS and FSS Incident - 12 October 2022 for details. In November, an issue with internal SWIFT systems led to around 30 minutes of downtime for the SWIFT service in RITS. Another incident in November resulted in around 30 minutes of downtime in the LVCS, but did not impact RITS and FSS availability.
