Reserve Bank of Australia Annual Report – 1989 Financial Statements Note 10 Deposits
Arrangements for trading and savings banks to hold non-callable deposits with the Reserve Bank were established in September 1988. The arrangements also involved the repayment of Statutory Reserve Deposits previously lodged by trading banks.
Associated with this change, the Bank's balance sheet no longer differentiates between trading and savings banks in respect of “other“ deposits by banks. The savings bank component at 30 June was $136.8 million ($101.2 million at 30 June 1988).
